BRONCHO are a unit of alternative rockers from Oklahoma, in the U.S. The lo-fi-esque quartette ventured to Glasgow on October 3rd, as part of their ‘Double Vanity EU tour’. They played one of Glasgows' most popular basement venues, packing out the intimate floors in a space that is irregularly small for this rising band.
Ecstatic supports sets from The Pale Kids and Grand Prix set the evening off to a fantastic start. These two artists are sure to be headlining their own EU/UK tour in the near future. We'll be disappointed if they don't.
BRONCHO (made up of Ryan, Nathan, Ben and Penny) then quietly take the stage. The crowd are in an alcohol induced psyche, perfectly prepared for a night of quality music. People move on their feet from the instant the band begin to perform. BRONCHO's scuzzy alt-rock anthems and melodies, win over every member of the audience, providing an auditory delight for both fans and newcomers alike. The set continues with not a hint of boredom in sight. The band rips through their old classics, accompanied by a selection of new songs from their latest album. Head-bops and sways from the crowd scream out "WOWZA, this shit is good." The set hits its pinnacle when head-bops turn to almost-moshing and swaying turns into full on dancing.
Their mix of punk-infused rhythm guitar, groovy booming bass lines, melodic lead guitar and a uniquely muted (yet bright) vocal, left Broadcast rippling with a strangely close, romantic air. Providing a unity between sound, scope and sweat is what made BRONCHO's set a success.
More gigging in this neck of the woods could easily make BRONCHO one of Scotland's newest favourites. Spread the word.
