Tenement Trail is a multi-venuedfestival run by the Glasgow-based production company Tenement TV. This all-dayer is in its fourth year, having grown bigger and bigger since its first run in 2013. It spans from Broadcast, Nice n Sleazy's and O2 ABC; to Flat 0/1, King Tut's and more. With its many successes, the Tenement Trail (TT) has quickly become one of the best independent music festivals that Scotland has to offer.
The TT team have knocked it out the park with their lineup this year. This explosive list features media-adorned artists such as, WHITE, The Van T's, Milburn and Teencanteen. Along with nearly all of the brightest Scottish newcomers of 2016, including The Ninth Wave, Declan Welsh, Lucia Fontaine and Breakfast Muff.
Head through to Glasgow on October 8th and get involved, because you are guaranteed to discover some fantastic bands you never knew existed.
Here's a couple of acts we reckon are worth catching:
Milburn have been on the road a lot recently, with many sell-out gigs to show for it. They just released their new single - Midnight Control and its b-side, Forming of a Fate - a couple of weeks ago, so are primed and ready to give a bangin' show under their fresh setlist. The well-loved Sheffield quartette - with their smiley faces and messy barnets - are sure to draw a large crowd of loyal listeners. And loyal listeners always smash the sing alongs...and there's nothing better than a good sing along.
SWEET WHITE are a band from Aberdeen, boasting a sound that is drenched in two of the best things that this world has to offer: reverb and synth. They've played some fantastic gigs since they started over a year ago - including 2 shows with BABY STRANGE and a 9-date headline Scottish tour. They've got a new single coming out very soon, under the title Genine. They make self-proclaimed "funky grooves" that are lined with a series of "darker tones". Add all of the above together and you're left with a mind-melting mix of unforgiving garage and brooding indie sounds.
You'd be a fool to miss this set. Have a listen to one of their tracks, Tides, below.
This solo musician made his debut live performance at T in the Park, on the legendary T Break Stage, this summer. Showing off his electronic sound for the very first time - on a stage that dozens of well-known bands have played - must mean he is onto something special.
Scholesy is a very elusive chap. He has no social media pages and no track releases yet, so he's making it a bit hard for us to show you why you should catch his set. But take our word for it. He's building a hefty mystery around his act, which makes him rather intriguing. Whether Scholesy means to do this or not, is a story for another day.
Here's what he looks like, so you at least know you're watching the right set:
