Junk Son is back with another hypnotic single as follow-up to the success of his self-entitled EP, released in July. Picture is the penultimate track taken from the South Londoner's debut album, coming on November 24th, entitled Beginning, Ending, Pretending. This track lays homage to his backlog of pieces; sticking to his characterised hypnotic sound. The single is out on all platforms today, for your listening pleasure.
“With this track I was fixated on the idea of capturing a moment of clarity, and distilling it into just a few short lines. I guess how quickly the track was written, and the fact that it's essentially built from layered, improvised sax takes, reflects this idea - probably in a weird subconscious way.”
This progressive single pulses through similar veins as the Goldsmiths graduate's previous endeavours. Intertwining shimmering vocals with a techno driven digital percussion section makes for a strong foundation, which is wonderfully harmonised by layered synth sounds. Picture makes for a spellbinding listen; all echoey, with rapid tones which'll cushion your brain nicely as your mind wanders through a world framed by Junk Son coloured glasses. You'll be hooked from start to finish; the four minutes passing before you even have time to think.
Junk Son plays London’s The Waiting Room on September 19th. Tickets on sale tomorrow morning at 10am.
