It is difficult for smaller cities to avoid being shrouded by the musical hub of Glasgow and the cultural epicentre of Edinburgh. Even Dundee and Aberdeen have their fair share of musical attention. Fear not, for Perth Music Expo have something marvellous lined up for September.
Here lies the unique opportunity to see some of your favourite Scottish bands in a wholly new setting. Intimate, friendly and focussed. The Perth Music Expo lineup keeps getting stronger and will shine a spotlight on the Perth music scene in the coming months. Dead exciting stuff.
The confirmed headliners for this new music all-dayer are PAWS (The Twa Tams), Catholic Action (The Green Room) and Michael Cassidy (IMAX Playhouse Perth). Get to know the main acts with us.

PAWS
Our tummies have been sore from the pained, estranged and runaway sounds of this garage-pop three piece since 2012. Their debut LP, Cokefloat! set tummies a-rumblin' and hearts a-racin' from the day it was released. Fast forward four years and we have a pretty distinguished band, who know exactly who they are. Having characterised their unique sound through many successful albums, PAWS continue to benchmark their genre for the many bands who will follow. They started in Glasgow and from there have branched out all over the world. From tracks Catherine 1956, to Youth Culture Forever and finally on to No Grace: we have no doubt that PAWS will put on an unmissable show at the Twa Tams, for this year's Perth Music Expo. Oh boy oh boy this is gonna be a gid yin.
Catholic Action
Don't bother wearing socks to this show, because Catholic Action will make you dance them off anyway. This band may be young, but they are not lacking anything for it. They specialise in feel-good tunes which are impossible not to dance to. Hip-hop rhythm and slow burning vocal-delights line some tracks; whilst indie guitar-driven sounds line others. Either way, Catholic Action are a delightful contrast between genres. Tracks like L.U.V manifest into a scuzzier live listen, making for a show that oozes their characterised heavy retro glamour. This set will be the perfect balance of dancing, dancing and...dancing.
Michael Cassidy Singer-songwriting magic will line every inch of this set. If you're up for a more chilled out headliner, then Michael Cassidy will prize you with one of the most enriching and wholesome hours (or however long his set is) ever. Intricate strumming and beautiful plucking are what brand this artist. Additions of brass and strings make for a beguiling backdrop to his soothing, unobtrusive voice. Cassidy harmonises instrument with vox perfectly, forming a sound that is hearty and good for the soul. There's up-tempo numbers to get you dancing, and there's slower ones to get you swaying. By all means go to the Playhouse on September 9th, but remember your tissues.
