Himalayas just released their debut music video. Cheap Thrills is the first track off of their upcoming Ecstasy EP, which is due on the 24th of this month.
The video shows a sepia toned live performance of the above single, filmed in an intricate way, to artistically define the generic set-up of the band.
Forming in early 2015, means this quartet of Cardiff boys have had ample time to refine their sound. Their endless successful UK shows have been rife with energy and carnage, thus defining their place in the South Wales Music scene as one of the most exciting bands to date.
Cheap Thrills, and the cinematic depiction of it, is melodic gold. The tone of the filter may be lacking in colour, but the artistic work it showcases is everything but. Using a hip bass-line with otherwise alternative rock sounds, puts a spotlight on the husky vox and the smart-ass lyrics that come with it. These vocals are heavy and antagonistic, overflowing with spite and tease - adhering to that classic Himalayas style. What becomes of the band in this video, is something intimidating, yet charming. This is a good thing, by the way.
